Shailer Park man charged with attempted murder and torture

Logan detectives have this afternoon charged a 34-year-old Shailer Park man with attempted murder, following investigations into two incidents last month where a 32-year-old woman was allegedly seriously assaulted, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged that on June 5 a 32-year-old Daisy Hill woman was assaulted before being physically threatened with a firearm inside a vehicle at a service station on Leda Drive, Daisy Hill around 7am.

On June 7, as the woman was travelling in a vehicle along the Gateway Motorway through Tingalpa, it will be alleged she was punched a number of times in the head before being forcibly pushed into the car window, resulting in swelling and bruising to her face.

The 32-year-old woman disclosed the incidents to police on July 2.

The man had been arrested by police on June 30 at an address on Juan Street, Alexandra Headland following an alleged 27-hour siege.

The 34-year-old man was today charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count each of torture and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The man is due to re-appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 3 where these charges will be added to other charges currently before the Court.

The man and woman were known to each other.
