It's almost time for Rockhampton's much loved Christmas event, Carols by Candlelight.

This year's concerts at the Pilbeam Theatre, are sure to be full of Christmas fun, featuring performances by some of the region's best singers, dancers and musicians.

Audiences will be in for a treat with exciting renditions of Christmas songs and carols and there will be plenty of opportunities to sing along.

Rockhampton Regional Council Communities, Culture and Heritage spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said that Carols by Candlelight has been a Christmas favourite of the pubic for many decades.

"Carols by Candlelight is one of the region's favourite pre-Christmas events. It's a time when people can gather together with family and friends, relax a little after a busy year, and get into the Christmas Spirit," he said.

"But there is also a serious side to the event. Carols by Candlelight has always strived to help those in need in the community. This year, proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to Rockhampton-based charity The Shelter Collective and their Mobile Outreach Bus Initiative (MOBi).

"Homelessness is a big issue for many areas and I hope that we can all help to take at least some of the pressure off those experiencing homelessness in our region through ticket proceeds and donations to The Shelter Collective. I urge concert-goers to give generously," he said.

Scheduled to be launched early in 2026, MOBi is a mobile support service which provides connection, food and amenities direct to those in need sleeping rough.

Established in 2022, The Shelter Collective is a Rockhampton-based community-driven collective with the goal of planning and delivering affordable and accessible housing solutions to those in need, regardless of their circumstances.

The Shelter Collective Director David Grenfell said: "MOBi will bring outreach services and amenities directly to those experiencing homelessness in our community. We're extremely grateful for the support from Council and the Rockhampton community. Together, we can make this a sustainable initiative and reach more people who are doing it tough and connect them to the supports they need."

Carols by Candlelight will be held at the Pilbeam Theatre on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 December at 7pm.

Tickets, at $5 for adults and $2 for children / concessions, are on sale now from the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office and online at www.seeitlive.com.au
