Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been selected to support Greater Shepparton City Council's (GSCC's) transition from a CAPEX model to a fully managed service over the next four years.
The new agreement will see GSCC replace its traditional CAPEX model and its challenges, including unpredictable costs and high OPEX charges, to a recurring service solution where Schneider Electric oversees the assets in place over their lifecycle.
By implementing a fully managed, digitally enabled, and tailored solution, GSCC will move to a predictable, cost-efficient solution overseen by a dedicated Schneider Electric customer success manager. The role of the customer success manager is to advise, monitor, and solve future issues before they arise; saving costs and power supply interruptions that may impact day-to-day operations.
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is essential to GSCC's operations to ensure the Council's services have access to continuous power to operate, despite outages, power surges, or other possible interruptions. Through the partnership, the operational responsibility of maintaining and overseeing these assets will be assumed by Schneider Electric, giving GSCC access to the expertise of a leading global manufacturer.
This will enable the GSCC to free up its employees' time to focus on core business outcomes that ultimately serve residents and other stakeholders of the Council. In addition, with a more reliable flow of energy to critical assets, GSCC can provide better access to services.
"Thanks to this partnership with Schneider Electric, we can prioritise activities and resources to help Council thrive – which will ultimately help us focus on moving the needle for our wider community," said Greater Shepparton City Council's Director Corporate Services, Chris Teitzel.
"We are excited to work with Greater Shepparton City Council and offer a modern approach to maintaining infrastructure and systems, without worrying about capital expenditure and power supply disruptions. This new partnership demonstrates Schneider Electric's commitment to building innovative solutions to help customers meet their business goals for sustainability and efficiency," added Vice President Power Systems and Services James Hunt, from Schneider Electric.
While the as-a-service model is becoming increasingly common globally, Secure Power as a Service is a unique and tailored offering from Schneider Electric, and GSCC is leading the way for local government adoption.
