Shining a Spotlight on the

Might of Australian Manufacturing

Melbourne – 16th November 2018

Flying in the face of the popular misconception that 'Australian Manufacturing is dead', leading Australian refuse and street sweeping equipment manufacturer, Bucher Municipal, is set to host a major Waste Industry event at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Melbourne.

The Waste Industry Open Day, which will be held on Tuesday 20th November, will not only provide attendees with the first chance to get a close-up look at Bucher Municipal's latest equipment and technology offerings, it is also sure to provide a valuable insight into the true 'might of Australian manufacturing'.

Bucher Municipal Managing Director, David Waldron, explained:

"With the plant closures and move to off-shore manufacturing that has occurred across a range of industries in recent years – particularly across the motor vehicle industry – it's easy to see, and perhaps understandable, why many people might think that it's all over for Australian manufacturing."

"We're here to say that nothing could be further from the truth," he added. "Australian manufacturing is very much alive and well, and in cases such as ours, it's thriving!"

Not surprisingly, an integral part of Bucher Municipal's manufacturing success, is its dual focus on quality products and 'world's best practice' manufacturing capabilities.

"For us, it's always been about ensuring that we utilise the best available equipment, materials and technologies to develop and manufacture the highest quality products," David Waldron said.

"In short, we believe that the best way for us to compete in what has largely become a low-cost global environment, is to design and manufacture products which we believe are unmatched in terms of both quality and performance. And we're proud to say, the success of this 'total quality manufacturing approach' is clearly evidenced in the company's ongoing success and growth," he added.

Employing more than 330 workers nationally, Bucher Municipal has operations around the country, including two world-class manufacturing facilities in Victoria.

Located in Clayton and Scoresby in Melbourne's outer south-east, they are some of the most modern and technologically-advanced specialist heavy vehicle manufacturing facilities in Australia.

The Waste Industry Open Day will provide Bucher Municipal with an opportunity to showcase both its manufacturing capabilities and its latest technologies, products, innovations and service capabilities.

Bucher Municipal will have its full product portfolio on display, including Side, Rear and Front-loading Refuse machines, Static Compactors and Baling Equipment, Compact and Truck-Mounted Sweepers, as well as Vacuum Tankers.
