Prominent landmarks across our city will be lit up in colours tonight to honour the first ever National Police Legacy Day.
From the Shrine of Remembrance to the Arts Centre Melbourne, buildings will glow in tribute to those who have served and the families they've left behind.
This year marks the first National Police Legacy Day.
The day shines a light on the powerful work of Australia's Police Legacy organisations - including Victoria Police Legacy.
These charitable organisations provide vital support to the loved ones of police officers who have lost their lives.
Last year, Victoria Police Legacy supported more than 1,300 people including more than 100 children with initiatives including counselling, education and career grants and other forms of practical assistance.
The lighting of buildings is a chance for all Victorians to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who serve, and the support needed for those left behind.
The buildings to be lit in the colours of the Michaelmas Daisy - the symbol of police legacy - include:
Old Treasury Building
John Cain Arena
Rod Laver Arena
Shrine of Remembrance
Arts Centre Melbourne

"Thanks to the work of Victoria Police Legacy, police families know they're never alone."
As stated by Minister for Police Anthony Carbines
"There is no one who feels the risk and sacrifice that our police make each and every day to keep our community safe more than the loved ones behind them."
"Today is a day to come together to acknowledge the service and sacrifice not just of our police, but importantly of their families. The ones who are left behind to safeguard the legacy of those who serve."
