Shooting incident – Helensvale

Detectives are investigating after a 46-year-old man was located with a gunshot wound to his leg at Helensvale this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Around 2.30pm the man was found lying on the side of Helensvale Road with a gunshot injury to the lower right leg.

He has been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

A crime scene was declared with detectives and forensic officers in attendance.

Police are presently searching for three men seen shortly before the incident with the injured man.

They are believed to be travelling in a silver or gold coloured hatch.

Investigators also believe the same group and vehicle were observed acting suspiciously in Lae Drive, Runaway Bay near a local shopping centre.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage in relation to the vehicle is asked to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
