Manning Regional Art Gallery will open Signatures by the Untethered Fibre Artists and 100 Days of Joy by local artist Sam Brownrigg on Friday 3 December from 6pm.
The Untethered Fibre Artist's Signatures: the mark as the embodiment of identity and intent explores the making of a mark – the unique pattern, characteristic or idea by which we identify someone or something.
Each of the 21 artists used fibre and textile materials to respond to this 'Signatures' theme and create a unified exhibition. Their artworks reshape assumptions, but they also reflect the diversity in approaches to creating art.
"The Untethered Fibre Artists confirm that visual expression comes in all formats, and Signatures will be a great exhibition to see over the Christmas-New Year period," said Council's Manager of Growth, Economic Development and Tourism, Deb Tuckerman.
Sam Brownrigg started lifting spirits with 100 Days of Joy during the first COVID-19 lockdown. Her drawings follow two little characters as they explore the question, 'What is joy?' For 100 days, Sharni Normal and her best friend Johnny go about spreading little moments of joy.
What inspired many of Sam's illustrations was her own experiences seeking joy throughout 2020. After releasing the drawings online, she published a picture book on the series. The exhibition will be the first time her drawings will appear as prints.
"It's exciting that our region's Gallery will be the first to showcase these cheerful little drawings in print," added Ms Tuckerman.

The Gallery has in-house children's activities and take-home packs available, and artist talks planned for January 2022.
