These enhancements mean customers can access all Medicare online services through the myGov app, reducing the need for the Express Plus Medicare app which will be retired in the coming months.
Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen said the enhancements to Medicare in the myGov app make it simpler and safer to manage your government services online.
"If you need to make or track a Medicare claim, check your immunisation history, request a Medicare card or update your organ and tissue donation preferences, the myGov app is the only app you need," Mr Jongen said.
"Medicare services in the myGov app have a familiar look and feel and you can add your digital Medicare and organ donor cards to the myGov app wallet."
Mr Jongen said myGov offers secure and convenient ways to sign in, including passkeys or your Digital ID.
"Passkeys and Digital ID help to keep your personal information safe and make it much harder for scammers to steal your username and password and access your account," Mr Jongen said.
"You can also use the new security review feature in myGov to strengthen your sign in option to keep your account safe."
Mr Jongen said the myGov app improvements are part of efforts to simplify the way people connect with government services by consolidating government service apps.
"One of the myGov user audit findings was that people needed a range of different government apps to access services. Our agency is committed to making it easy for people to access our services from myGov," Mr Jongen said.
"With the myGov app improvements, we are taking steps to retire the Express Plus Medicare app. I encourage those still using the Medicare app to make the switch to the myGov app now."
From 8 August 2025, the Express Plus Medicare app will not be available in app stores. People who have the app can continue to use it until it is retired from 1 November 2025.
