About 2.27pm Tasmania Police attended a single vehicle crash on Squeaking Point Road near the Thurlstone Golf Course. A Toyota Hilux utility travelling toward Devonport had left the roadway and collided with a stump. The vehicle was extensively damaged and the driver deceased upon the arrival of emergency services.
Police closed the road for about two hours while examinations were conducted; Tasmania Fire Service assisted with matters at the scene.
The cause of the crash is not known at this stage and an investigation will be conducted in order to provide a report for the Coroner.
