Six-year-old boy injured after serious crash in Griffith

A six-year-old boy was seriously injured after a crash at Griffith yesterday.

About 2.30pm yesterday, a six-year-old boy was riding his unregisterable blue Yamaha Peewee 50 motor cycle on the grounds of a farm on Bishop Road. Once out onto the roadway, the young boy turned right directly into the path of a Ford Utility travelling north easterly along Bishop Road, Yoogali, NSW Police say.

The boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Griffith Base Hospital. He was then airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Ford Utility, a 54-year-old woman, uninjured, was taken to Griffith Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Griffith Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
