The Republic of Slovenia, a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) since 2001, has made a voluntary contribution of EUR 15,000 to the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV), reaffirming its commitment to international justice and the rights of victims of crimes under the Rome Statute.
Slovenia's contribution is earmarked for the benefit of survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) through the TFV's assistance programme in the Central African Republic, enabling access to integrated services including essential medical care, mental health and psychosocial support, education, and economic empowerment.
Mr Andres Parmas, Chair of the Board of Directors of the TFV stated, "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I express my sincere gratitude to Slovenia for its voluntary contribution. This donation will support the vital work being done in the Central African Republic for the benefit of SGBV survivors. Slovenia's support for the work of the Trust Fund for Victims is much appreciated."
H.E. Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs for Slovenia stated, "Slovenia is deeply concerned with the increasing scale and scope of grave violations against civilians in armed conflicts, especially women and children. The needs of victims of atrocities for just compensation and assistance are greater than ever. Bearing this in mind, as well as the ICC's victim-centered approach, we strive to provide support to international criminal justice also through the contributions to the Trust Fund for Victims. We respect the fundraising efforts and efforts to shape efficient and meaningful programmes of the TFV to deliver on its important mandate."
Slovenia has been providing regular support to the TFV through voluntary contributions since 2006.
