Small business support services boosted in response to COVID-19

  • Small Business Development Corporation creates dedicated COVID-19 assistance centre
  • Business owners encouraged to call 133 140 or visit www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au
  • Follows State Government's $114 million stimulus package for small and medium businesses announced this week
  • Small business owners are encouraged to make use of the State Government's newly created assistance centre as a one-stop resource for advice and guidance on managing the impacts of COVID-19.

The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) will provide dedicated, timely guidance on available support options.

The SBDC's refocused 133 140 hotline number and website will deal specifically with queries from business owners looking to navigate the wide range of recently announced Federal and State government measures to alleviate the impacts of COVID-19.

This includes information on available stimulus packages and eligibility requirements; advice on preparing businesses to manage impacts; and other resources.

For businesses not currently eligible for financial support packages, SBDC can provide business advice to help owners manage their situations.

To access the service, contact 133 140 (8.30am-4.30pm weekdays) or visit http://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au

The new assistance centre follows the State Government's $114 million small and medium business support measures announced this week - which will provide payroll tax relief to 11,000 Western Australian businesses.

As stated by Small Business Minister Paul Papalia:

"Small business is tough at the best of times and right now is possibly the most challenging time many have ever seen.

"It's likely people are suffering information overload when it comes to what is available to assist at this difficult time.

"When you're flat out running your businesses it can be hard to source information. The SBDC's new assistance centre is ready to provide a friendly voice to guide people on support available to deal with the impact of COVID-19.

"These are exceptional circumstances and it is important the available Federal and State government support can be understood and accessed easily.

"I encourage anyone needing guidance or advice to call the hotline on 133 140 or visit the website at http://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au."
