Small businesses get big opportunity

Big deals are up for grabs when local small business owners pitch their products and services to large organisations at Cairns Meet the Buyer next month.

Small business owners can now register for the one-on-one 'speed networking' sessions designed to help small business connect with large buyers from the public and private sector.

Council has extended the invitation to all small and family businesses as part of Small Business Month.

The event, to be held on Tuesday 2 May, gives local business owners a chance to identify tender opportunities, grow their network and increase business exposure.

Cairns Mayor Bob Manning said Cairns Meet the Buyer would help small businesses put themselves in front of large buyers.

"We have an impressive line-up of large organisations that are looking for opportunities to spend their money at our small businesses," he said.

"Cairns has more than 13,800 registered small businesses which support jobs and help our local economy prosper.

"As a Small Business Friendly Council, Council believes small businesses are the lifeblood of the local community and is working to give the sector the best opportunity to thrive in Cairns."

Cairns Meet the Buyer 2023 is an opportunity for small businesses to connect with large, local organisations across numerous sectors who regularly procure goods and services.

The event is presented by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training and Cairns Regional Council as part of Queensland Small Business Month.
