RSPCA WA's annual street appeal is going digi-TAIL this year, and we're asking animal lovers to dig deep and donate online for Happy Tails Day this Friday, 27 March.
While coronavirus is having an impact on many aspects of our lives, sadly, animal cruelty has not stopped.
RSPCA WA relies on fundraising and community support for events like Happy Tails Day to generate more than 90% of the funds needed to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome some of the State's most vulnerable animals.
So while we won't physically be shaking tins this Happy Tails Day, we hope the generosity of WA's animal lovers will shine through.
If you're working from home, you could donate what you are saving on barista-brewed coffee, parking, or petrol. If you're at work, ask your colleagues to chip in and make a group donation. You could set up a Virus Jar – any time someone mentions coronavirus, they have to put a gold coin in the jar!
How your donations help animals in need:
- $15 could help to provide enrichment and a cosy place to sleep for a homeless animal
- $25 could help to give a homeless kitten a warm bed, litter tray and a meal tonight
- $55 could help to pay for a week of antibiotics for a sick dog

As noted by RSPCA WA Head of Fundraising Ken Doran:
"Even in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, we still need to keep Inspectors on the road; we still need to provide medical treatment for animals suffering cruelty and neglect; and we still need to provide care and shelter for animals in need.
"These are unprecedented times, but the sad reality is that right now there are animals in WA who are suffering.
"These animals rely on RSPCA WA for help, and we simply can't rescue, rehabilitate and rehome them without the community's generous support.
"Being unable to host physical fundraising events will have a huge impact on the funds we rely on to care for animals. In this difficult time, we need your support more than ever."
