Hills residents are invited to focus their lens on The Hills Shire and submit their best shot for a chance to be featured in Council's 2027 Waste and Recycling Calendar.

This year's theme "Hills Through Your Lens" encourages budding and experienced photographers to frame the places, perspectives, and landscapes that make The Hills unique.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said the competition is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the beauty of the region while celebrating the creativity and talent of local residents.

"We are calling for entries for our annual Waste and Recycling Calendar that showcase the heart and soul of our Shire," Mayor Byrne said.

"A total of 13 photos will be featured in the calendar, with one image representing each month and a standout photo displayed on the front cover.

"My tip is simple: head to your favourite local place, take a photo, and submit it on our website. The judges are looking for images that truly capture the distinctive character of our region."

The front cover winner will receive a $100 Coles/Myer gift card, and each monthly photograph winner will receive a $50 Coles/Myer gift card.

Entries are open to local photographers from The Hills Shire only. Photos must be taken within the Shire, must not feature people or faces, and must have been captured within the past two years.

The competition opens on Wednesday, 1 April at 12:00am and closes on Tuesday, 30 June at 11:59pm 2026.
