Softball star Angus Weal joined Wodonga Councillors in the chamber on Monday night, where he was named as this month's recipient of the Young Achiever Scheme (YAS) funding.
Angus has played the sport for nearly nine years, and was selected in the School Sports Victoria 18 and under team in both 2024 and 2025.
Bill Clear, Vice President and coach of the Wodonga Warrior Softball Club points to Angus' passion, sportsmanship and eagerness to develop the skills of his teammates as his key strengths.
"I have had the privilege of coaching Angus at both club and representative levels in baseball and softball on multiple occasions," he said.
"He consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and excellent sportsmanship.
"He works hard to develop his skills and is a role model for newer and younger players.
"He is also eager to share his knowledge and assist in developing others.
"Angus is a passionate player and club member who leads by example, both on and off the field."
