Soil testing at Elsternwick Park Oval 4 15 May

If you're visiting Oval 4 in Elsternwick Park South on Friday 15 May, you might notice our contractors testing the soil.

To ensure the safety of people out for exercise and dogs enjoying the off-leash area, works will be contained within a safe working area, which will move to several testing locations throughout the day.

These soil tests are to help us plan forthcoming works at Oval 4. We're planning to improve sports facilities by resurfacing the sportsground; installing irrigation, better drainage, and lighting; as well as proposing to construct a basic pavilion with public toilets. To preserve the open feel of the space, there will be no permanent fencing around Oval 4.

The proposed works at Elsternwick Park Oval 4 is part of Council's commitment to improved facilities at Bayside sportsgrounds. Following community consultation in 2018, in resolving to formalise sports facilities at Oval 4 and leave Oval 3 unchanged, Council aims to achieve a balance between informal recreation, such as dog walking, while meeting the growing demand for sporting ovals in Bayside.
