Some restrictions easing in line with 70 per cent first dose vaccination target

The Victorian Government has today announced that in line with the 70 per cent first dose vaccination target being achieved tomorrow (17 September), some restrictions will be eased from 11.59pm on Friday 17 September 2021.

From 11.59pm Friday 17 September, there will be six reasons to leave home:

  • Shopping for necessary goods and services (within 10kms of your home)
  • Caregiving or compassionate reasons
  • Authorised work or permitted education, or work interstate
  • Socialise or exercise (with one other person plus dependants if they cannot be left unattended. The other person can be from another household). Up to five people may gather from two households to socialise or exercise if everyone over age of 18 have had two vaccination doses
  • Receive a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Other specified reasons (specific exemptions apply)

A curfew remains in place, from 9pm until 5am.

Other announcements include:

  • The distance you can leave home for essential shopping, exercise and outdoor social interaction will increase from five to 10 kilometres
  • The time permitted for exercise - and now outdoor social interaction - will increase from two hours a day to four hours
  • Two people will now be able to train outdoors with a personal trainer
  • Skate parks and outdoor gym equipment will reopen
  • Child-minding for school aged children will be permitted if only one parent is an authorised worker
  • Real estate inspections will resume by appointment only, with specific restrictions in place
