Two drivers will face court after being caught street racing at Somerton Park last night.
Just before 10.30pm on Thursday, 14 May, Southern District police were on patrol in the Somerton Park area when they allegedly saw a Toyota coupe and an Audi sedan racing each other along Diagonal Road.
Patrols stopped both vehicles on Brighton Road, where both drivers underwent breath testing.
The driver of the Toyota, a 25-year-old man from Maylands, allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.101.
The driver of the Audi, a 30-year-old man from Ascot Park, allegedly returned a reading of 0.076.
Both vehicles were impounded for 28 days, and the men were reported for drink driving and street racing.
They will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
