Somerville Highway Patrol stops disqualified learner driver

Somerville Highway Patrol members detected a learner driver allegedly exceeding the speed limit in Cranbourne West this morning (26 April).

The driver of the white Holden Commodore station wagon, a 26-year-old Cranbourne woman was allegedly driving the unregistered vehicle when she was detected travelling at 100km/hour in an 80km/hour zone about 2.45am.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but the driver failed to stop and continued travelling along Hall Road.

The vehicle was eventually stopped on nearby Scarborough Drive where police observed allegedly false registration plates on the vehicle.

The woman was also a disqualified learner driver at the time of driving.

Her vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1042.40 and she is expected to be charged on summons with traffic related offences.
