A local partnership at Somerville Recreation Reserve has delivered a state-of-the-art bar and cool room for the Somerville Cricket Club, proving what can be achieved when local passion meets Shire guidance.
While the Somerville Cricket Club had the original vision, the upgrade will benefit all user groups sharing the reserve, including the Somerville Football Netball Club.
Funded in part by a Victorian State Government grant, the project gained maximum value through the Shire's community-led projects program. By joining forces with the Shire, the cricket club took a hands-on approach to construction, deploying skilled tradespeople from within their own membership.
We supported the project from initial concept to completion, helping the club navigate compliance regulations, manage paperwork, and ensure the finished build was fit for purpose and built to last.
This project is part of a broader trend across the Mornington Peninsula, where collaborative initiatives have previously delivered upgraded clubrooms, pavilions, cricket pitches, tea kitchens, and community gardens.
