The Albanese and Malinauskas Labor Governments have signed a new agreement to deliver South Australia's share of the Clean Energy Capital Investment Fund, with up to $3.9 million to be invested in upgrading and expanding the state's clean energy training capacity.
The national $35 million Fund has been established by the Albanese Government to support facility upgrades and equipment purchases enabling training providers, including TAFEs and industry-based Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), to deliver skills essential to Australia's clean energy transition.
South Australia is a world leader in renewable energy. Backing in and training up more skilled workers will help strengthen South Australia's training capability across emerging and in demand clean energy fields, including solar, wind and battery storage.
Under the Agreement, funding will be administered through the South Australian Government, with projects expected to commence this year. Investments may include new training infrastructure, upgrades to existing facilities and the purchase of new training equipment to support hands-on learning in clean energy technologies.
The Australian Government and South Australian Government are delivering the skills and training that South Australia needs for its future, including through $2.3 billion in joint funding as part of the National Skills Agreement to deliver high-quality, responsive and accessible VET that lifts skill levels and boosts productivity.
