South Eastern Freeway closed due to crash, SA

The South Eastern Freeway has been closed for several hours due to a serious crash at Stirling early this morning, according to SA Police.

About 1.30am on Wednesday 27 June, a B-double milk tanker was travelling towards the city on the South Eastern Freeway when he was struck from behind by another truck.

The driver of the second truck, a 40-year-old man from Murray Bridge, was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the milk truck was not injured.

Due to the milk spill and debris strewn across both directions of traffic, the freeway was completely closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The down-track of the South Eastern Freeway is now open to all traffic however traffic on the up-track is still blocked with motorists being diverted at Stirling.

Please take alternate routes if possible.
