South Yarra theft and deceptions

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for help to identify a man following a theft and series of deceptions last month.

Investigators believe a man broke into a vehicle on Hawksburn Road, South Yarra between 7pm on 6 April and 4.50am on 7 April and stole a wallet.

Between the hours of 4.50am and 5.30am on 7 April, the offender used a bank card from the victim's wallet to make six transactions at convenience stores across St Kilda and Elsternwick.

Items including cigarettes and snacks, along with petrol, were purchased using the stolen card.

Detectives have released images and CCTV footage of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived as Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 30s with a medium build and unshaven face.

The man was wearing a black hoodie, grey pants and grey/white runners.
