Southwark is once again a suburb of Adelaide after changes to suburb boundaries were made official today.
Bringing back the name Southwark is part of the foundations of a total revitalisation of Adelaide's inner-west; creating a city outside of the City across Port Road at Thebarton and the Hindmarsh triangle.
Southwark encompasses the Malinauskas Labor Government's 'Southwark Grounds' development, which will transform the former West End Brewery site into a vibrant mixed-use urban community.
Up to 1,300 new homes alongside retail, commercial, hospitality and community spaces, delivered through Renewal SA, will breathe new life into this historic location.
Southwark will be bordered by the River Torrens to the North and Port Road to the East and will extend to include landholdings who have expressed a desire for their properties to be included in the area designated Southwark between Stirling Street to Anderson Street, following Cawthorne Street south to Light Terrace.
The Southwark Hotel will again become part of Southwark, and the suburb will retain the 5031 postcode.
Bringing back Southwark is just one of three suburb boundary changes announced today, with part of Bolivar officially becoming part of Paralowie and the process on part of Noarlunga Downs becoming Port Noarlunga gets underway.
The affected land forms part of Renewal SA's Noarlunga development. The currently vacant site is one half of a development area that will deliver more than 626 homes with the first residents expected to move in by the end of next year.
Under the proposal, the parcel of land that sits between Dyson Road to the west and the rail corridor, which is currently diagonally split between the two suburbs, would entirely become part of Port Noarlunga.
The realignment will create a clearer, more logical suburb boundary and better reflect the planned vision, infrastructure and amenities for the site.
The proposal is supported by the Surveyor-General and the City of Onkaparinga pending public consultation.
The suburb boundaries between Bolivar and Paralowie will also officially change today following a request from the owners of a popular local caravan park and adjoining owners.
The area which sits between the North-South Motorway and Port Wakefield Road includes the caravan park, the Whitehorse Inn Hotel, a BP truck stop an Ampol service station, a McDonald's and a Krispy Kreme store which, under the proposal, will all now become part of the suburb Paralowie.

The development of 1,300 new homes at Southwark Grounds is making great progress and when it comes time for the first residents to move in, they'll be moving into the established Southwark community.
Bringing back Southwark is just one of three sensible suburb changes that are happening.
Rather than having a neighbourhood diagonally dissected between Port Noarlunga and Noarlunga Downs, this proposal would create a clear and logical boundary that will make sense to new residents and will create a connection between the charm and character of the existing suburb while creating a solid foundation for the new homes.
I am also pleased we have been able to make another common sense boundary change by connecting residents and businesses of Bolivar into the community of Paralowie.
