Part one - Don't forget the basics!
Tablelands Telegraph - February 2021

With seasonal conditions now more favourable than over the last few years, many landholders are turning their thoughts to how well their paddocks have survived the drought and if there might be a need to re-sow. Re-sowing temperate perennial pastures usually takes place in autumn, although – if conditions are right – sowing can occur in early autumn on the higher eastern areas of the tablelands.
Re-sowing might be undertaken as part of a whole-farm pasture improvement program, or like many landholders, after assessment of the botanical composition following a drought. Often, the perennial pastures have declined in population, weed invasion has occurred (including annual grasses such as vulpia) and sometimes there is a lack of legume persistence.
