Special Operations Group arrest man and seize firearm after shooting

A man wanted over an alleged shooting earlier this week has been arrested by the Special Operations Group in Preston this afternoon.

The arrest comes after Armed Crime Squad detectives were notified yesterday that a 39-year-old man self-presented to a hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning with a single gunshot wound to the leg.

Enquiries by detectives led to the arrest of the 31-year-old man and seizure of a firearm on Victoria Street, near the intersection of Dundas Street, about 2.30pm.

It's believed the parties involved in the shooting are known to one another..

The Coburg East man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
