Speeding sedan halted by Heavy Vehicle Unit

Police have intercepted a car allegedly going more than 60km/h over the speed limit in Grantville this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Heavy Vehicle Unit officers on patrol detected a car allegedly travelling at 164km/h in a 100 zone on the Bass Highway towards Corinella about 12.40pm.

The Ford sedan was intercepted and police spoke to the 33-year-old driver.

The Corinella man had his vehicle impounded for 28 days at a cost of $1415.

He is expected to be charged on summons with speeding offences.
