Spirits & Song on the Mountain:
Ben Lee to headline Scenic Rim Eat Local Month's new celebration
SPIRIT OF THE MOUNTAIN | SATURDAY 31 MAY | CAULDRON DISTILLERY
The afternoon begins with a powerful Welcome to Country from the Wangerriburra people, the Traditional Owners of Jambreen (Tamborine Mountain). Settle in as they share the stories of their ancestors and the land, grounding the experience in culture, connection and country. It's a meaningful and moving start to an afternoon that celebrates not only flavour and song, but the deep spirit of place.
Then, as the sun dips behind the hinterland hills, guests will unwind with a hamper filled with local gourmet delights, sip on Cauldron's exceptional gin, vermouth and whisky, and chill to live performances by Australian music maker Ben Lee and local Brett Gannon. It's a chilled, alfresco, bring-your-own-chair or picnic rug kind of afternoon.
Let's talk sips – the Cauldron team will be mixing their new signature creations just for the occasion:
- Spirit of the Mountain – Limoncello, cucumber, lemon myrtle & pineapple soda
- Rhubarb Sour – Coastal Gin, rhubarb, lemon & a crown of Persian fairy floss
- Mountain Mule – Mountain Gin, lemon, blueberry, basil & ginger beer
- Espresso Mountini – Their house-made coffee liqueur + espresso = bliss
Let's talk bites – grab a Spirit of the Mountain hamper to feed two for $60, packed with local meats, cheeses, and fresh-baked bread. Or follow your nose to the Cauldron food truck for extra tasty eats.
Let's talk awards – The Cauldron isn't just scenic, it's seriously talented:
- 2024 Australian Gin Awards – Best in Class: Barrel-Aged Christmas Gin
- 2024 TASA Awards – Best in Class: "Piano Rock Posso Vermouth" (made in collab with Witches Falls Winery) – yes, QLD beat the southerners at their own game!
- 2024: Release of Queensland Single Malt Whisky, a new milestone for local spirits, now awaiting international accolades
Cauldron Estate and Distillery is fast becoming one of the must-visit gems of the Scenic Rim. Nestled on 18 acres of vineyards and meadows, it's the ideal place to settle in, sip something sensational, and toast to everything that makes this region so special. Don't forget your woollies – it's a mountain afternoon in on the last day of Autumn, after all.
