Spotted drink driving in Spotswood

A Spotswood man has given up his licence for a year after being nabbed allegedly driving at more than three times the legal alcohol limit this morning, Victoria Police say.

The driver went through a preliminary breath test site that had been set up on the Westgate Freeway off-ramp at Williamstown Road about 5am.

He returned a positive preliminary breath test before undergoing an evidentiary test, where he returned an alleged blood alcohol concentration of.172 per cent.

The 22-year-old had his licence suspended for 12 months and is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving

Motorists are reminded that Operation Regal kicks off this long weekend from 12.01am Friday until 11.59pm Monday.

The operation targets key road risks including speed, fatigue, driver distraction and drink and drug driving.
