Spring Clean With Dump For Free Month This October

With spring in full swing, Griffith City Council is once again rolling out Dump for Free Month this October 2025.

From Wednesday 1 October to Friday 31 October 2025, residents can dispose of general domestic waste, garden debris and mixed recyclables at no cost.

Council's Waste Operations Manager, John Roser, said the initiative continues to grow in popularity.

"Our Dump for Free Month earlier this year was a great success, with residents really embracing the opportunity to clear out unwanted items," Mr Roser said.

"We're pleased to bring it back this spring and encourage everyone to take advantage of the offer while giving their homes and gardens a seasonal refresh."

Throughout October, each household can dispose of up to two standard loads, with a maximum of four car tyres per load. Please note that commercial or agricultural tyres are not accepted. A standard load is defined as either a car and trailer combination or a single car or ute load.

Residents are reminded that hazardous materials such as asbestos will not be accepted during Dump for Free Month. For these and other problem wastes, Council encourages residents to make use of the Community Recycling Centre (CRC) at the Tharbogang Waste Management Facility. The CRC is a permanent drop-off point for common household items not suitable for kerbside bins, such as paint, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, motor oils, batteries, smoke detectors and fluorescent globes/tubes.

The Tharbogang Waste Management Centre will operate from 8am to 5pm, seven days a week, while the Yenda Waste Management Centre will open from 1pm to 5pm on Sundays only.
