Stonnington's next hard waste collection takes place from 8 September through to 13 October 2025.
Do you have items at home that have reached the end of their life? An old washing machine that can't be repaired or a bike too broken to be donated or sold? Dispose of them with our city-wide hard waste collection.
While the collection is a great excuse to dispose of items, be mindful that much of the hard waste collected in Stonnington cannot be recycled. Before you put items out for collection consider whether they can be:
- repaired
- sold
- donated.
And remember, not all items belong in hard waste, last year's most commonly unaccepted items were:
- paint
- cement sheeting
- unbundled green waste.
Our spring hard waste flyer will start hitting letterboxes across Stonnington from early September. It explains everything you need to know about the collection, including exact collection dates for your property, when to put items out and what items are accepted.

Please do not put items out for collection until you have familiarised yourself with our flyer, website or app.
Commercial properties and apartments will also receive flyers, with a number to call to arrange a collection.

If you can't make your scheduled pick up or you just have extra items to dispose of, you can now pay for an individual hard waste collection.
