Local green thumbs, gardeners and plant enthusiasts have the chance to show off their blossoming gardens in this year's Sydney Hills Garden Competition.
The annual garden competition, run by the Rotary Club of the Hills-Kellyville, is now open for nominations across eight categories, including Residential Garden; New Garden; Townhouse, Villa or Courtyard Garden; Senior Citizen's Garden; Strata or Community Title Property; Good Neighbour Gardens; Speciality Garden; Industrial, Commercial or Institution Garden; and School Garden.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne encouraged residents to nominate their gardens for the chance to be recognised in this year's competition.
"The Hills is renowned for its beautiful gardens, and I know more and more people have turned to gardening as a newfound hobby and as a way to cope with lockdown restrictions," Mayor Byrne said.
"This is a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work and effort that goes into maintaining gardens, as well as how much joy and fun they bring.
"Council is proud of its support for this local competition and I look forward to seeing all the nominations," Mayor Byrne added.
To be eligible to enter this competition, gardens must be located in The Hills Shire or in the adjoining parts of suburbs, including Baulkham Hills, Northmead, North Rocks, Carlingford, West Pennant Hills, Cherrybrook, Glenhaven, Glenorie, Dural, Glaston and Arcadia.
Entries close on Friday, September 17 and judging takes place between 20 and 24 September. The judges will need to visit gardens during this time and nominees will be advised of the date and estimated time of their visit.
