  • Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), Queensland Museum, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), State Library of Queensland and Queensland Theatre are all taking part in the fun.
  • The colourful program, which coincides with the Brisbane Festival, will offer more than 250 school holiday activities.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering more than 250 free, low-cost and ticketed school holiday activities at Queensland's Cultural Centre to entertain and engage children throughout the holiday break.

With the school holidays in full swing, Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum, State Library of Queensland, GOMA and QPAC have created a colourful program to suit all interests, ages and abilities.

A new addition to the program is GOMA's 119-metre-long interactive play sculpture, 'The Big Hose' which transforms the Brisbane River's edge.

Designed by renowned Australian artists, Tony Albert and Nell, the sculpture of a quintessential garden hose encourages children to engage with the arts through play.

GOMA's major free exhibition Wonderstruck features more than 100 artworks, including interactive pieces for young visitors, providing an awe-inspiring experience for the whole family.

Young audiences will be captivated by QPAC's Brisbane Festival shows including Bangarra Dance Theatre's creation for children, The Bogong's Song, and Shake & Stir's The Lovers, a pop musical for teens and adults.

The State Library of Queensland's free activities invite children to take part in a Scavenger Hunt or drop in on a daily First 5 Forever session.

The Crisafulli Government's $75.8 million Arts Budget bolsters opportunities for arts workers, enhances access to the arts for more Queenslanders, and allocates funding for Queensland Cultural Centre upgrades.

The Arts Budget sets a plan for Queensland's future and delivers a fresh start for the arts after 10 years of decline under the former Labor Government

Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the spring school holiday program provides entertainment that is light on the hip pocket.

"The Crisafulli Government is delivering vibrant arts events and activities for families to enjoy," Minister Langbroek said.

"There's no better time to discover Queensland Cultural Centre's offerings than during the school holidays.

"From exciting performances to giant play sculptures, our key cultural institutions have hundreds of activities for local and visiting families to enjoy.

"We know cost can be a barrier for families and that's why we have made sure there are free and low-cost options during the holidays.

"Brisbane Festival continues to provide plenty of free events and we're expecting an audience of roughly 1.8 million people will attend over the three-week arts extravaganza.

"I encourage everyone to take advantage of Brisbane's beautiful spring weather and explore our exceptional events and school holiday programs."
