Spring Spotlight Out Now: Conference Takes Centre Stage

The Spring 2026 edition of Spotlight is out now, and draws upon the people and collaboration of the Australian cotton industry, particularly its people, leadership and innovation.

In this edition Dr Georgina Pengilley writes her inaugural Spotlight welcome as Managing Director, drawing on her first few weeks starting at the Australian Cotton Conference, listening and learning from people across every aspect of the industry.

The Australian Cotton Conference is a major focus in this edition of Spotlight with record numbers descending on the Gold Coast embodying the optimism, innovation, science and camaraderie of the people involved in the industry.

We recap the thinkers, creators and developers behind CRDC's Innovation Call were on show at Innovation Alley, and 2026 CRDC Chris Lehmann Young Achiever of the Year, Alexandria Doyle, shares insights on her personal growth and niche strengths that supports her Central Highland community.

A new leadership scholarship trial to support diverse leaders - from emerging to senior - is open to growers, researchers, extension staff and other industry contributors, with funding on offer to support associated leadership development costs.
