STA Travel in administration - advice for affected consumers

Consumer Protection has issued advice for customers who are still owed money by student travel agency STA Travel Pty Ltd which has today gone into external administration.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Consumer Protection has received 27 complaints against STA Travel.  15 consumers received full or partial refunds, 7 received credits and the remaining five were not able to be resolved.

Consumers still waiting to receive refunds or who hold credits will need to lodge a claim as a creditor with the appointed administrators, Mr Jason Tracy and Mr Tim Norman of Deloitte. The contact email is [email protected].

Those who paid by credit card but did not receive any travel services, should consider contacting their credit card provider and requesting a chargeback.

Information related to travel affected by COVID-19 is available on the Consumer Protection website. Enquiries can be made by email [email protected] or by calling 1300 30 40 54 during office hours.
