The Office of the Appeals Convenor is continuing its investigation into the appeals lodged against EPA Report 1800 for the Valhalla Gas Exploration and Appraisal Program.
The Appeals Convenor is now commencing targeted consultation activities where additional clarification is required to support the investigation.
Following receipt of the EPA's report to the Minister required under section 106 of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, the investigation team is reviewing the material received and undertaking preliminary investigations and technical assessment of the appeal grounds.
Key activities currently underway for Stage 3 of the investigation include:
- engaging with relevant stakeholders
- providing opportunities for appellants to clarify technical matters raised in appeals and conducting meetings where appropriate
- identifying matters that may require further technical assessment.
This work is focused on ensuring all relevant information is accurately understood and considered as part of the investigation. The Appeals Convenor has not formed any conclusions on the matters raised in the appeals and all information received is considered impartially and in accordance with the appeals process. Consultation assists the investigation team with their lines of inquiry.
Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
