Stall holders and entertainers wanted for first ever Shellharbour City Youth Market

Attention all young people and entertainers! Shellharbour City Council is calling for expressions of interest from people aged 12-25 years who want to show off their talents at the first ever Shellharbour City Youth Market.

So if you're 12-25 and you've got something to sell or a story to tell, this is your chance. We're looking for performers as well!

The Youth Markets will be held during NSW Youth Week on Wednesday 17 April from 4pm to 8pm at the Shellharbour Civic Centre.

The event is a great opportunity to grab your mates and head along for an evening of live music, great food and unique market stalls. The market will give young people a chance to develop their entrepreneurship skills, contribute to the local economy, whilst promoting sustainability and youth culture.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the event would give the city's young people a chance to earn some money and show off their talents and merchandise.

"This unique event is a fantastic opportunity for our young people to show what they can do and share it with their peers," Cr Saliba said.

"The stalls can be used for something you want to sell or share with the broader community. It might be something you own, something you have made or something you would like to promote.

A stall deposit of $20 applies for those invited to attend. This deposit will be refunded on the day, once the stall is set up.

The Shellharbour City Youth Market forms part of Council's work in line with the first ever Shellharbour Youth Plan, which was adopted by Council late last year. The plan is a reflection of the needs, hopes and ambitions of Shellharbour's young people.

The Youth market will contribute to key goals from the Shellharbour Youth Plan, by supporting young people to contribute to and benefit from the local economy, whilst providing an exciting event for young people to check out with their mates.

The Youth Market gives young people and the community a chance to come together in celebration of NSW Youth Week 2019. Council and other local organisations are running a variety of Youth Week activities between April 10 and 18 to celebrate Shellharbour's young people.
