STAR Group focus on 'back to school' safety, SA

It was all hands on deck to make sure South Australian kids got back to school safely this morning, according to SA Police.

STAR Group officers, including members from Operations, Dogs, Mounted and Water, were deployed to patrol school crossings this morning as students across the state returned from school holidays.

Water Operations Police pulled over a 39-year-old woman from the western suburbs for a mobile driver test after she had dropped a child off at school about 8.30am today. The woman tested positive to methamphetamine.

The sample has been sent for forensic testing and Families SA have been advised of the detection.

She also received an expiation notice for driving while unlicensed, suspended and unregistered.

Officers will again be paying attention to schools for the afternoon pick up period and drivers are urged to be mindful and obey the 25 km/h speed limit in school zones.
