Starry Sari Nights Returns to Enthrall Liverpool, 5 Sept 2023

Liverpool's spectacular Starry Sari Nights pageant is returning to again delight big crowds in Macquarie Mall with its colour and culture.

Starry Sari Nights is the festival that brings India to Liverpool's doorstep.

It's one of the most popular events on Liverpool's extensive program of cultural celebrations, drawing upwards of 30,000 people from all over Sydney.

The festival will run from September 22 to 24 September.

South Asia's customs, food, drinks, and culture are the focus of this festival with crowds relishing the chance to enjoy themselves as they watch free entertainment highlighted by a colourful fashion showcase of new sari designs.

Initial responses to Starry Sari Nights were so positive that the crowds caused traffic problems in the CBD.

To avoid further disruptions and to give crowds more room to attend, this year's festival has been extended to three nights and the venue has moved from George Street in the CBD to Macquarie Mall.

"Starry Sari Nights is a great experience," says Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun. "It's not to be missed.

"That's why so many people come. It's a chance to have conventional Indian dishes and try out new ones.

Food at the festival is south-Asian inspired. There will also be stalls featuring fashion designs for sale and jewellery and artisan markets.
