State Funds Boost Carlton Parade Revitalization

Bayside Council has been awarded $399,500 of funding from the NSW Government to help transform and re-energise Carlton Parade, Carlton.

The funding is part of the Community Improvement District (CID) Pilot Program led by Transport for NSW, which is empowering businesses and communities to work together to create great local places that support and stimulate local economies.

The CID Pilot Program is the first state-wide program of its kind in Australia and is part of promoting a 24-Hour Economy. It will test the viability of diverse governance models and strengthen local place economy whilst accelerating public-private partnerships in centres across NSW.

The funding aims to incentivise collaborative placemaking and Bayside Council will partner with local businesses and cultural institutions on Carlton Parade for its 'Suburb as a Stage' project. The objective is to foster long-term partnerships that showcase a collaborative approach to improving Carlton Parade's visual amenity.

The project plans to use the local creative arts scene to help transform the streetscape into a vibrant location with public art, renewed seating, lighting and landscaping. In addition, the area's connection with renowned Australian author Miles Franklin will be promoted through interpretive and historical signage, making it a drawcard for local residents and visitors.

Once the 'Suburb as a Stage' project is complete, Bayside Council will organise a street event to showcase the improvements and celebrate Creative Carlton.

The 'Suburb as a Stage' project is proudly funded by the NSW Government under the CID Pilot Program.
