State Government sand carting program update

Recently there has been public discussion about sand carting on local beaches to address significant erosion at West Beach and Henley Beach South. Sand carting on the Adelaide metropolitan coastline is managed by the State Government's Department for Environment and Water. The Department has approached council asking for suggestions on the sand carting truck route to and from the site, taking into consideration the width of the streets and the impact on infrastructure (such as roundabouts, median islands).

The Department is engaging with the local community and it has advised that there will be further detailed information about the works, including the truck route, distributed shortly. Council is a key stakeholder in this project but ultimately it is a State Government project and their responsibility on consultation and timing.
