Statement By Commission On Current Discussions On MFF Proposal

European Commission

The proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028–2034, presented by the Commission on 16 July, puts forward a significantly streamlined and simplified budgetary architecture, designed to respond effectively to the Union's new and evolving challenges.

The Commission is now engaged in constructive exchanges with the European Parliament and the Council listening to and discussing their views. These discussions will allow the institutions to examine the proposal in detail and agree on the best way forward.

At this stage, the Commission does not speculate on individual elements of the proposal or individual positions by the co-legislators. We remain focused on achieving an outcome that ensures a modern, balanced, and future-oriented EU budget serving the interests of all Europeans.
