Statement from the Shadow Minister for Energy and Resources, David Davis
John Bradley is a respected public servant. He has resigned as Secretary of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. While Mr Bradley is too professional to reflect publicly on the Allan Labor Government, the Minister for Energy, or the deteriorating energy situation in Victoria, there is little doubt that the disastrous policies driven by Lily D'Ambrosio have left Victoria vulnerable - indeed, seriously exposed - under Labor's eleven years in power.
Prices have surged for both gas and electricity, with another gas price hike of almost 7 per cent set to take effect on Tuesday next week, and electricity prices significantly higher than just a few years ago. Security of supply for both gas and electricity is also now a serious challenge in Victoria after more than a decade of Labor government.
The offshore wind debacle and Labor's ideological war on gas have contributed directly to the serious and growing risks now facing our state.
The shoddy costing of the Victorian Transmission Plan, along with the draconian and undemocratic approach to its implementation, would alarm any wise, experienced, and independent senior public servant.
It is important to remember that Labor Ministers - chief among them Lily D'Ambrosio - have been directing the traffic and are responsible for the shambles that is Victorian energy policy, not the public servants who serve them."
