The Victorian Government has released the second phase of consultation for the proposed expansion of their Activity Centres Program.
Four key precincts in Bayside have been identified by the Victorian Government for future housing growth and renewal as part of the expanded program. This includes:
- North Brighton Station (Bay Street),
- Middle Brighton Station (Church Street)
- Hampton Station (Hampton Street),
- Sandringham Station (Sandringham Village).
It's incredibly disappointing that media outlets were informed of the Victorian Government's plans for Bayside Activity Centres before Council.
The Minister promised to work collaboratively after the lack of meaningful consultation during the Activity Centre pilot program. This has clearly not occurred.
Council will continue to advocate regarding any government changes that threaten to destroy the suburbs we love.
We are now assessing the information released by the Victorian Government and will provide more information for our community shortly.
The Phase 2 Consultation concludes on 11:59pm Sunday 19 October 2025.
