Statement on ADF personnel arriving into Darwin from Middle East Region 28 March

Department of Defence

On 27 March 2021, an Australian Defence Force (ADF) member who arrived in Darwin on a routine Defence sustainment flight from the Middle East Region returned a positive result for COVID-19 during arrival testing at the Howard Springs Quarantine Facility.

The member is being treated at the Howard Springs Quarantine Facility, where they will complete their mandatory quarantine. The member has had no contact with the general Northern Territory community.

All ADF members are subject to the same screening and quarantine requirements as any other international arrival in Australia, including testing prior to departing for Australia and the need to return a negative COVID-19 test result before exiting quarantine.

All other personnel on the flight will be tested during quarantine, in accordance with standard procedure.

The safety and health of all ADF personnel remains Defence's top priority. For privacy reasons, Defence will not comment further.
