Statement on National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan's Call with Geoffrey van Leeuwen

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke by phone today with Geoffrey van Leeuwen, Foreign Affairs and Defense Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. Mr. Sullivan underscored the Biden Administration's commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Netherlands relationship and reinvigorating transatlantic ties. He expressed appreciation for long-standing contributions and sacrifices made by Dutch troops in Iraq against ISIS and in NATO's mission in Afghanistan. Mr. Sullivan and Mr. van Leeuwen discussed our close cooperation on advanced technologies and cyber security. They agreed to work together on shared foreign policy priorities, including in regard to China and Russia. They also discussed the importance of partnership on common global challenges, including climate change.
