Darren Miller, CEO of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), has today confirmed he will not be seeking a fourth term in the role when his current term comes to an end in August 2027.
"I have advised the Minister, ARENA Board and staff that I will not seek reappointment as CEO when my current term concludes in August next year," Mr Miller said.
"By then, I will have had the privilege of leading ARENA for nine years. I am grateful for the confidence shown in me by successive governments, and, more importantly, in ARENA and its mission.
"When I joined in 2018, ARENA had limited funding remaining and faced an uncertain future. Today, the agency has been entrusted to deliver more than $14 billion and has a much broader and more important role in Australia's energy transition.
"Leading ARENA has been the privilege of my professional career and I couldn't be more pleased with what the organisation has achieved together during my time as CEO. None of this would have been possible without the talented people I have worked with across ARENA, government, industry and the research community.
"With strong momentum, a refreshed Board and an excellent leadership team in place, I believe this is the right time to prepare for a new CEO to lead ARENA into its next chapter."
ARENA Chair, Marianna O'Gorman has thanked Mr Miller for his service to ARENA.
"Darren is a compassionate, collaborative and visionary leader who cares deeply about ARENA and Australia's energy transition. His contribution to ARENA has been immense," Ms O'Gorman said.
"I look forward to continuing to work closely with him until the end of his term next August."
