Detectives from the Melbourne Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) conducted a routine operation in North Melbourne this afternoon.
As part of this operation, a search was conducted at a residential property on Bedford Street.
Two people are currently assisting police. At this time, no one has been charged.
This operation is not linked to a specific incident and is part of the JCTT’s ongoing intelligence gathering.
It is also not linked to any imminent threat and the community should be assured that there is no ongoing risk as a result of this operation.
The church in the vicinity was also unrelated to this operation.
The JCTT is comprised of members of Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police.
