Stealing with violence in Highgate Hill, QLD

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted at a convenience store in Highgate Hill this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

At 1:45pm a man entered the business on Gladstone Road and attempted to leave the store after hiding a drink in his pants.

When challenged by a staff member the man assaulted the staff member, striking him a number of times in the face.

The man then fled the store and was last seen running south along Gladstone Road.

The male staff member was transported to the Mater Hospital for treatment of facial injuries.

The man (pictured) is described as Caucasian in appearance, which short brown hair and a tattoo on his neck and right hand and was last seen wearing white shorts.
